New Financial Training Developed by RO Vienna
IOM has grown massively since its establishment 70 years ago and continues to do so, making good financial management essential at all levels of the Organization.
Its Financial Management Rules and Procedures (FMRP) were produced in 2018. They outline and summarize the financial rules, procedures and practices applied worldwide, provide internal control guidance to field offices and serve as the main source of reference for the day-to-day financial administration of IOM.
Through Migration Resource Allocation Committee (MIRAC) support, the Regional Resource Management Team of IOM's Regional Office in Vienna has developed targeted regional trainings and other information documents designed to present key messages from the FMRP in an easily accessible format that will be rolled out in all nine IOM regions, starting next week.
Part of the training materials is a video brochure which consists of nine animations representing each module of the FMRP and an introduction movie that gives an overview about the project.
“The implementation of all activities will build capacity worldwide to guarantee compliance with IOM’s regulations to further ensure accountability and keeping up IOM’s reputation vis-à-vis our Member States and donors”, mentioned Erwin Markovic, Regional Resource Management Support Officer, IOM's Vienna Regional Office. "We have called it Face to Face training but obviously all training will be online until the situation allows us to resume physical training, However, the format perfectly suits virtual training too."
The first online Regional Face-to-Face Pilot Training on the FMRP will be held between 25th and 29th January 2021 by the Vienna Regional Office. The training is highly participatory and will also enable gathering of feedback from the field to be considered in future versions of the FMRP.
