Martin Nesirky, Director, UNIS Vienna, Welcomes IOM's participation at the Open Day for the 40th Anniversary of the UN presence in the Austrian capital

IOM RO Vienna was an integral part of the hugely successful UN Vienna Open Day last Sunday, celebrating 40 years since the UNO City was established. Our flagship “Holding On” Virtual Reality exhibition, detailing the lives and aspirations of internally displaced people, was brought in from HQ, and presented to an eager Viennese public. High-level diplomats and representatives of the Austrian ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the city of Vienna attended along with thousands of citizens and over a dozen sister UN Organizations.

Vienna is one of the four headquarters of the United Nations, along with New York, Geneva and Nairobi. Around 5,000 employees from more than 125 countries are working to improve the lives of people around the world through the United Nations family of organizations and agencies in Vienna.
