On 13 November 2019, the Operational Group for Resolving the Migration Crisis in Una Sana Canton took the decision to introduce a lockdown of the reception centres Bira in Bihać and Miral in Velika Kladuša in Bosnia and Herzebovina
Such measures will prohibit migrants, asylum-seekers and refugees, including unaccompanied children, from entering or leaving the two centres, unless doing so to attempt crossing the border into Croatia, accoding to a UN Statement.
The UN fully recognizes the disproportionate burden borne by Una Sana Canton authorities and local communities affected by the high number of migrants, asylum-seekers and refugees without adequate means or solutions. IOM Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina Peter Van der Auweraert discussed the stalemate on Al Jazeera's flagship news programme
