Progress on Ethical Recruitment Partnership after Moscow Meeting

Progress on Ethical Recruitment Partnership after Moscow Meeting

A partnership with Rostrud, Russia's Federal Service for Labour and Employment, is now a distinct possibility following productive discussions with IOM's Moscow office last week.

Chief of Mission of the International Organization for Migration in Moscow, Abdusattor Esoev, met with the Deputy Head of Rostrud, the federal executive body which controls and supervises labour and employment issues, including  labour migration,

Esoev briefed the Rostrud delegation about IOM's work, focusing labour migration and the ethical recruitment of migrant workers. IOM’s IRIS (International Recruitment Integrity System) was shared as an example of an ethical recruitment tool for employing migrant workers.

IOM has expressed interest to partner with Rostrud in their current plan to develop a model employment contract for foreign citizens to expand the minimum requirements for employment contracts.

“Partnership with Rostrud is not only important for projects on the organized recruitment of migrant workers but also for ensuring that the employment rights of migrant workers are protected," concluded Esoev.
