The second European Games take place in the Belarusian capital  from June 21 to 30, and IOM was handed the singular honour of carrying the "Flame of Peace" on its journey through the country on the way to next weekend's opening ceremony in Minsk's Dinamo Stadium.

The flame of the 2nd European Games was lit at Ara Pacis Museum in Rome on 3 May. Belarusian climbers took the torch to the summit of Mont Blanc and then the torch traveled through Slovenia, Austria, Hungary, Czechia, Slovakia and Poland before crossing into Belarus.

Chief of the International Organization for Migration Office in Belarus Zeynal Hajiyev joined athletes, performers, representatives of Belarusian and foreign organizations in the relay in the city of Nesvizh yesterday

“It’s a huge honour and a privilege to be asked to carry the Flame of Peace towards the end of its epic trans-European journey", said Hajiyev. "It shows that journeys can and should be peaceful, and that’s something that IOM can definitely identify with.”
